PROBLEM STATEMENT

Entrepreneurship and branding:

PURPOSE, IDENTITY, WEB APPEARANCE & ARTIFACT

Goal: Design the intention and the brand for a fictitious non-profit organization that engages in the field of water.

water literacy (education) / water & social justice / gender equality water & culture / appreciation / art / imagination / water & ecology / biodiversity / environment / climate change

Emphasis was placed upon original concept development and the exploration of diverse processes, techniques and methods (photography, screen printing, xerography...). I experimented and explored, thereby expanding my visualizing skills.

Your group will design:

  • Concept map of the field of water.

  • Name and intention of your organization.

  • Visual identity.

  • Online appearance.

  • One artifact of your organization, eg: poster campaign, sculpture, product, animation, exhibit, etc.

  • Ripple story (how the artifact influences individuals and culture over time)

You will be organized into groups of 3–5 students with similar callings.

Each group member chooses a role:

Recorder (takes notes of all discussion happening within group, as well as during critiques and feedback sessions)

Materials Manager (collects, prepares, and uploads all required pdfs onto Canvas for the group; go-to person for all material/file related issues; ensures all group members have access to all files)

Reporter (reports out for the whole group in review sessions; voice of the group)

Facilitator (ensures smooth interactions between group members; go-to person if problems arise; internal communicator for all aspects of the project)

Timekeeper (sets up schedule for in class work as well as out of class work; time manager for group to keep all members on task; breaking up available class time into productive sessions for brainstorming and reviewing)

My Role & Contribution:
I was responsible for designing a key infographic that addressed the deeper issue of consumerism and how it distorts our relationship with materials. The piece aimed to:

  • Inform the public on how everyday choices—such as buying clothes, food, beverages, and technology—impact environmental systems, especially water usage and waste

  • Highlight the problem: framing consumer behavior as a root cause of environmental degradation

  • Promote agency: encouraging individuals to reflect on their purchasing habits and embrace sustainable alternatives

  • Connect the dots between consumer habits and the broader environmental crisis, including the invisible cost of production and disposal

I worked closely with my team to align the infographic’s tone, visuals, and messaging with the brand’s mission and visual identity. The design balanced clarity with urgency, using simple visual language to unpack complex issues in a way that was accessible & engaging.
