As promised, I will be sharing ideas for an Oscar Night Party over the next couple days. I’m actually excited about the Oscar’s this year since I actually know some of the movies. Some years I have never even heard of the movies. Anyway, today I’m going to share how I made the decorations and signage for the party.
First up…Oscar Night sign.
I made the sign using black, white, and gold paper. I used my Cricut machine to cut out the shapes, letters, and stars and glued it all on a piece of black poster board.
Next up…buffet labels.
I found these small little picture frames for $1 at Michaels. They were the perfect size for buffet labels but they were way to bright.
All they needed were a few (actually several) coats of black spray paint and then I printed out the labels and put them inside the frames. I used this free font for the labels.
Now…the popcorn boxes.
I had a hard time finding popcorn boxes that worked with the black, white, and gold decor I had picked. Most of the boxes I found in the stores were red and white. But then I came across this free printable for gray and white boxes. PERFECT!!! They were very easy to put together, just make sure you tape the bottom very well so none of the seasoning can fall through!
To make the labels I also used the gold and black paper and the Cricut to cut out the labels. Then I used the handwriting trick that I also used on our Christmas Cards.
I printed out the word “Popcorn” in the font and size that I wanted. Then I colored the back of the paper with a pencil.
Next, I centered the paper over the label and traced the word with a ball point pen. As you can see it leaves a faint outline of the word. Then I traced the word with a gold pen.
Last, I glued the gold paper to the back of the label and glued it to the popcorn boxes.
Tomorrow I will be sharing the food!!!
